Overview
When our founding directors, Susie Cour-Palais and Peter Maynard, formed SelectX in 2003, their aim was to bring a breath of fresh air to the world of life and disability risk management. The industry was facing change and needed to adapt to it. Risk management processes needed to work better for companies, intermediaries and consumers alike. SelectX was created to lead and underpin that change process.
Since then SelectX has played a key role in the successful development of tele-underwriting in the UK and elsewhere. We have re-designed new business processes for greater speed and efficiency, making optimal use of rules engines and other technologies. We have developed underwriting philosophies for innovative consumer propositions, and established ourselves as the foremost creators of underwriting and claims manuals. At the same time we have challenged the industry to think anew: about risk management being a core component of protection writers' brands; and about the changing nature of risk and the need for new forms of medical and other evidence.
Our purpose remains the same today, along with the way we think. And there is still work to do.
